After a day in the mountains around the Pic du Midi d'Ossau, I came back to Laruns - capital of the region of Haut d'Ossau. Laruns is a small town but you can find out some traditional features of the region of Béarn, especially on the 15th August - the annual festival of the town. That's why I spent 2 days (14th and 15th) in the Pyrénées and Laruns. The origin of the festival of Laruns is the day of the Virgin Mary. During the festival, the citizens in traditional costumes gather in the center square of the town. They dance, sing the traditional songs and drink wine :o) Every one can participate in the festival. |
